assignments and doubtitng my sanityAs we have reached half way through out first semester, I can easily say what and what not has changed in the university. There are a lot of things that changed and are impacting us students tremendously, for example no space to work in during free lessons or that we do not have a studio of our own as fine art students and we simply cannot engage in working with oil paints but it is expected since there isn't enough space to hold more than 1000 students I have tackled this subject in a previous post and therefore I won't go through it again. The main concern I have now is about how the assignments were split up. Everything seems to be coming together, (meaning the deadlines) unlike previous years, are all either on the same day or a day apart from each other which does not even give us time to work. In the previous years that I have been studying in MCAST, the assignment due/review dates were all split up so that nothing collides but this year is a mess.
I do agree with the new system that of being given marks instead of pass, merit, distinction but I do believe that the grading and syllabus should have been given more thought and care because I still have my doubts that MCAST is still not on solid ground with the new grading system. Yes, obviously year by year the courses become tougher and I am very willing to work my hardest but more attention and care should have been given to the sanity of the students because we cannot always spend all-nighters just because of the clashing deadlines! To conclude, speaking for myself, I do not let everything for the last minute!
